Asbestos awareness training is legally required for any worker or those that supervise those workers who are likely to disturb asbestos during the course of their everyday work.
Asbestos awareness training helps operatives and their supervisors to ensure that they recognise asbestos and know what to do about it in the event they come across it on a job.
Since there’s some confusion out there we thought we’d clarify the point that asbestos awareness trainers don’t have to belong to any organisations.
You can work with independent trainers provided they can prove competence and compliance to regulations and legislation. Sourcing an asbestos awareness training provider can often appear daunting, however it needn't be. When sourcing a training provider check they have an external audit in place. Award Health & Safety is a Member of IATP where auditors details are listed opposite the training provider for openness and transparency.
Award Health & Safety Ltd are accredited by the CITB to deliver asbestos awareness training which means we actually arrange for the CiTB to pay you £30 per delegate, for all those companies that pay a levy to the CiTB in the first place. Award Health & Safety Ltd are an CiTB Approved Training Organisation (ATO) for asbestos awareness training.
Have a look at the HSE pages themselves here to check to see if your training is going to be approved properly. Our approval is provided by the IATP the ONLY Independently Audited Training Provider and is also a ‘Not for Profit’ organisation.
Asbestos Awareness Training
Duration 1/2 day
The Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 apply to employers, employees, self employed persons and duty holders. The Regulations cover all work with asbestos containing materials.
Regulation 10 of CAR states that every employer must ensure that adequate information, instruction and training is given to employees who are liable to be exposed to asbestos or those that supervise those employees. This includes maintenance workers and others who may come into contact with or disturb asbestos.
When it comes to asbestos awareness training for our members we ask for high standards of delivery and professionalism in all aspects. Award Health and Safety always achieve on both counts, and our members receive true value for money year upon year.
